CALLS FOR CALM FROM ICSA IN WAKE OF BREXIT RESULT

Jul 8, 2016 | ICSA in the Media | 0 comments

CLARE.FM – 25 JUNE 2016

The Cratloe-based General Secretary of the ICSA is urging farmers not to panic following the UK’s decision to exit the EU.

Concern has been expressed over the impact the Brexit will have on agricultural exports to Ireland’s biggest trading partner.

Britain accounts for 50% of Irish beef exports and one third of dairy.

Eddie Punch  told Clare FM’s Farm Focus that volatility in the currency markets will eventually settle down, but that the EU must now consider how it’s going to address the problems thrown up by  the referendum result.
