Donegal ICSA has hosted a lively debate with many of the candidates running for office in the Donegal constituency in the upcoming general election. The ICSA Election 2016 Forum took place in Friels in Raphoe on Friday night, February 12th, 2016.
ICSA Donegal chairman Malcolm Thompson said, “ICSA has a clear manifesto for what is required from the next government to ensure a fairer deal for all farmers. We were delighted to welcome 11 of the 15 Donegal constituency candidates who listened intently the associations’ demands from the next government.”
Each candidate then gave a four minute response as to how he/she will support the associations’ policies if elected to Dáil Éireann. This was followed by a robust and well informed question time from the floor. Government politicians were challenged about their performance over the last five years, while a Sinn Féin candidate was challenged over his party’s stance on the Common Agricultural Policy.
Mr Thompson thanked the farmers and politicians who attended and stated, “We look forward to many more engagements with those who get elected in the future.”
