ICSA sheep chairman John Brooks has welcomed the opening of the Iranian market for Irish sheepmeat exports. “Every extra market is a help and we welcome the potential that a country of over 80 million people offers.  However, it is vital that the Irish banking sector co-operates with the Iranian banking sector to ensure that business can be transacted.”

“ICSA met the Department last week to press the case for more markets for sheepmeat exports and in particular, we also emphasised the need to give equal attention to live exports of sheep.   ICSA looked for a reduction in the bureaucracy around live exports and argued strongly that live exports were vital to bring competition into the market. Also, live exports help ensure that we maximise opportunities to supply.”
