KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER BEEF PROGRAMME NATIONAL EVENT

A Knowledge Transfer Beef Programme National Event will take place at Jim Cograve’s farm in Newcastle, Enfield, Co. Meath on Friday, July 15th from 4pm-6pm

This is a DAFM Approved Knowledge Transfer Beef Event and will include: 

• Commercial Cows with AI bred Calves with Discussion from Arthur Bredin of Progressive Genetics
• ICBF speaker Chris Daly will cover Star Rating and Beef Genomics • Adam Woods, from Teagasc, will be speaking about 24+months calving and the benefits
• Arthur Bredin, of Progressive Genetics, will be talking about bulls and heifer/ cow qualities
• Pedigree Luing Herd from Scotland • View the Roundhouse cattle handling System
• Luing Beef will cooked by Rogans Smokery served on the evening 
• The event will conclude with an Elite Sale of 10 4* and 5* Sim / Luing 2yr Old Heifers with AI bred Maternal Calves at foot and in calf again. Cattle sale will be handled by Eamonn Gaffney Auctioneers 
• Catalogues will be available on the day

CONVENING OF NFFSC MUST KICKSTART EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO WEATHER RELATED DIFFICULTIES FACING FARMERS

ICSA president Sean McNamara has said the convening of the National Fodder and Food Security Committee (NFFSC) tomorrow must kick start an emergency response to the ongoing difficulties facing farmers amidst continuing heavy rainfall. “With any hope of an early spring well and truly dashed and any fodder reserves dwindling fast it is clear this committee needs to rapidly reassess the current situation on the ground, including the extent of the fodder shortages and the impact of continued wet weather on farming operations,” he said.
