MEETING THE CHALLENGES OF FEEDING BEEF

ICSA will host an event focusing on Meeting the Challenges of Feeding Beef on Tuesday 9 October in the Mullingar Park Hotel, Mullingar, Co Westmeath at 8pm.

 The evening will feature the following guest speakers and topics:

 General Secretary ICSA – Eddie Punch:

Market outlook in unsettled times.

Kepak Livestock Procurement Manager – Jonathan Forbes:

The outlook for beef in 2019, and required factory specifications.

 Thompsons’ Richard Moore:

Feeding for performance and recent Kepak/Thompsons trial work.

Lallemand – Bruno Martin:

Learn from your animals, beef feeding signals.

 The meeting will be chaired by Dr Alan Kelly lecturer in Beef Production and Nutrition at UCD

Refreshments will be served.

TILLAGE PLAN NEEDS STRONG FINANCIAL COMMITMENT

ICSA Tillage chair Gavin Carberry has said Minister McConalogue must put money on the table if the decline in the area under tillage is to be reversed. “The tillage sector is in dire need of a significant and multi-year financial boost which must be delivered if the Department are serious about meeting the target of increasing the tillage area to 400,000ha by 2030 as part of the Climate Action Plan,” he said.
