The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has confirmed that the public consultation on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) post-2027 has been extended by one week, with a new closing date of 5pm on Friday, 27 March 2026.
Announcing the extension, Martin Heydon encouraged all stakeholders to take part, highlighting the importance of ensuring that farmers’ voices are clearly reflected in Ireland’s position in upcoming EU negotiations.
The CAP remains a critical support for:
- Farm incomes
- Rural communities
- Food security
- Environmental delivery
This consultation is a key opportunity to shape what comes next.
Submissions may be made online through the consultation questionnaire and sent to post2027capconsultation@agriculture.gov.ie
Further details on the consultation, including the consultation questionnaire and submission process, are available on the Department’s website at: Public Consultation on the CAP Post-2027 Regulations
We strongly encourage all farmers and stakeholders to take a few minutes to complete the survey before the deadline. Your input is vital in ensuring that the next CAP delivers for Irish agriculture.
