The Cratloe-based General Secretary of the ISCA is calling on our TDs to strongly resist two controversial trade deals in an effort to protect beef farmers in counties like Clare.
The farming organisation is holding a demonstration in Dublin today in opposition to the proposed Mercosur and TTIP agreements, saying they would threaten the future of the beef industry in Ireland.
The agreements aims to increase trade between Europe, America and South America, but concerns have been expressed that they’ll lower food standards here.
Eddie Punch says there’s a number of reasons why beef farmers should be so concerned.
