ICSA SUCKLER BREEDING & BDGP EVENT – SKIBBEREEN MART

Nov 11, 2016 | Press Releases | 0 comments

11 NOVEMBER 2016

ICSA, in conjunction with Teagasc, is hosting a Knowledge Transfer Suckler Breeding and BDGP event at Skibbereen Mart, March Road, Skibbereen, Co. Cork on Wednesday 16 November at 7.30pm.  ICSA West Cork Chairman and National Suckler chair Dermot Kelleher says it promises to be a very interesting meeting for all suckler farmers with live demonstrations of livestock. “We will have displays of cow and calf units and which will form the basis for a very interesting discussion, and this will be linked back to the BDGP scheme.  Even for farmers who are not in the BDGP scheme but who are interested in breeding, the event will be highly informative and beneficial.  As well as breeding, Karen Dukelow of Teagasc will give a very practical, down-to earth and humorous presentation on factors affecting profitability in the suckler herd and we will also have a very interesting contribution from Tralee based agriculture consultant and well known cattle breeder Michael Brady. Ross Evans from ICBF will outline the ICBF progress on star ratings for cows and bulls and the event will be also enhanced with the presence of speakers from Dovea and Eurogene AI companies.”

Mr Kelleher acknowledged the immense help from Teagasc and Cork marts in making this event possible.

Guest speakers on the night will be:

Karen Dukelow – Teagasc

Ross Evans – ICBF

Michael Brady – Agriculture Consultant

Philip Whitley – Eurogene

John Lynch – Dovea

All Knowledge Transfer participants must register with the dedicated DAFM staff members on the evening in order to gain credit for attendance at this event.

All farmers welcome.
