ICSA is meeting with senior officials from Cerberus and Capita Asset Services tomorrow, 22 November. The meeting has been arranged to discuss the sell-off of farm loans to vulture funds. The ICSA delegation will include ICSA president Patrick Kent and Rural Development chairman Seamus Sherlock.

Mr Sherlock said “ICSA has committed itself to tackling the issue of farm loans now under the control of vulture funds. I would like to assure farmers that ICSA will support each and every member in their dealings with vulture funds and will assist in their efforts to find a reasonable solution.”

ICSA Suckler chair Jimmy Cosgrave has hit out at the Department of Agriculture’s decision to offer only online training to participants of the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP). “This move is very concerning, especially considering the older age demographic of suckler farmers. Many of these farmers may not have reliable internet access or have the necessary computer skills to navigate complex online platforms. The focus should be on ensuring as many farmers as possible can benefit from the scheme rather than putting barriers in place,” he said.
