The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Agriculture of a €1 million imported fodder transport scheme. The Association said the initiative will be very helpful in reducing the cost of imported straw, hay and silage for farmers who are struggling to feed their livestock.

ICSA national suckler chair Dermot Kelleher said, “ICSA has been calling for the Minister to step in and take action to alleviate the pressure on Irish fodder supplies for some time now, but it is better late than never and I welcome the announcement. Anyone urgently seeking fodder should avail of this scheme and contact their local dairy co-op as soon as possible to do so.”
