ICSA Discusses Beef Crisis with Minister Coveney

Jul 4, 2014 | Press Releases | 0 comments

July 4th 2014

At a recent meeting with Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney, ICSA president Patrick Kent took the opportunity to reiterate the association’s concerns about the ongoing beef crisis.

“I stressed once more to the Minister the importance of appointing a beef regulator,” said Mr. Kent. “I also impressed upon him the need to keep all live export opportunities for Irish cattle open.”

“ICSA is very concerned about pressure on farmers to produce more traditional breeds with lower carcass weight. Such breeds may be suitable for the UK meat export market, but are less suitable for the live trade.”
