Members of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association (ICSA) from the Shannonside region have been protesting outside the EU Commission offices today due to what they describe is the potential sell-out of the EU beef farming sector in Mercosur and TTIP talks.

President Patrick Kent is slamming EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom for reckless concessions and claims that the EU Commission has no democratic mandate to push for a trade deal at such a huge cost to the European beef farming sector.

ON the table is a proposed concession of a 78,000 ton tariff rate quota (TRQ) in the Mercosur talks and the possibility of a similar offer on TTIP coming after the concession of 50,000 tons to Canadian farmers under CETA.
