ICSA calls on ABP to clear up doubt about source of horse DNA

ICSA president Gabriel Gilmartin has called on ABP Food Group to confirm that they have no reason to believe that horse DNA found in frozen burgers produced in the Silvercrest plant came from anywhere other than a Polish supplier.

It comes in the wake of Poland’s veterinary authority’s assertion that their investigators have so far found no evidence to suggest that a Polish meat processor was the source of burger ingredients containing horse DNA.

Mr Gilmartin said, “We need clarity on this issue as a matter of urgency and I would call on ABP to issue a statement confirming that the source of the contaminated burger ingredients was in fact Silvercrest’s Polish supplier, and that it did not come from another, unknown, source.”
