ICSA CALLS FOR REMAINDER OF GLAS PAYMENTS TO MADE WITHOUT DELAY

Jan 6, 2017 | Press Releases | 0 comments

6 JANUARY 2017

ICSA rural development chairman Seamus Sherlock has expressed frustration on the part of many farmers who still have yet to receive their GLAS payments. “ICSA has received many calls on the issue from farmers who have complied with everything that has been asked of them from the Department but who have been left high and dry waiting for payment.

Adding to the frustration is the fact that so many farmers are having difficulty getting through to the relevant officials to discuss their cases. Prompt payment for schemes such as GLAS is critical for farmers operating on tight margins. A lot of people who are under pressure financially need this payment immediately.”

ICSA SLAMS UNFAIR TARGETING OF IRISH LIVESTOCK HAULIERS ABROAD

ICSA president Sean McNamara has said he is urgently seeking clarification regarding the recent targeting of Irish livestock trucks by Irish officials at the port of Cherbourg. “ICSA has been contacted by several of the livestock hauliers affected who claim they were singled out by the Irish officials for additional inspections by the French authorities while non livestock carrying trucks were left alone. This was despite these inspections having no relevance to animal welfare,” he said.
