ICSA ISSUES BDGP REMINDER TO FARMERS

Jan 4, 2016 | Press Releases | 0 comments

7th December, 2015

ICSA president has reminded all participants in the BDGP scheme to submit all genotype samples and surveys by tomorrow’s December 8th deadline. “We have been informed by the Department of Agriculture that BDGP payments will commence the week beginning December 15th”, he said.

Mr Kent is urging all participants in the scheme to submit the information in time to avoid missing out on payment before the end of the year. “Over 20,000 herd owners could potentially be in line for a payment, and I would urge all those seeking a 2015 payment to get the information in before tomorrow’s deadline.

Farmers have put a lot of time and effort in to the scheme so far. The money is now there for farmers and we want to see the greatest possible drawdown of funding allocated to the BDGP”.

ALTERNATIVE SCEP TRAINING OPTIONS MUST BE PROVIDED

ICSA Suckler chair Jimmy Cosgrave has hit out at the Department of Agriculture’s decision to offer only online training to participants of the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP). “This move is very concerning, especially considering the older age demographic of suckler farmers. Many of these farmers may not have reliable internet access or have the necessary computer skills to navigate complex online platforms. The focus should be on ensuring as many farmers as possible can benefit from the scheme rather than putting barriers in place,” he said.
